"Joy and I have logged over 40,000 miles during the past three years which is a testimony we truly enjoy our Airstream and have visited an untold number of interesting places.  Last year a close friend suggested that we try a small park in Lake Toxaway known as Riverbend.  The park was described as only having 24 nicely sized sites with a beautiful flowing creek as well as being lush with mature trees.  The description went on to depict a very friendly atmosphere with unique gathering places such as the rustic but very complete summer kitchen.  We decided what our trusted friend described was so interesting that we had to follow his recommendation.

Our stay last summer was limited to 6 short days due to a wedding, but long enough to appreciate why our friend was almost insistent that we visit Riverbend.  What we discovered was a place so rare that we have leased a site for the entire summer allowing us to use our "Silver Renegade" as a  mountain cottage to stage day trips.  Last summer we found two great lakes for our kayaks but only had time to locate a couple of the reported 300 waterfalls in the surrounding area.  Gary and Carol Gardner have managed Riverbend for 16 years and simply could not be more friendly, honest or knowledgeable.  I think you can tell Joy and I look forward to our summer adventure in Lake Toxaway."

"My husband and I spent Memorial Day weekend here.  The sites are very nice, and with full hookups.  Saturday night the owner fixed some of the best wood-fired pork we've ever had, along with coleslaw, corn on the cob, and watermelon for $5 per person.  It was fun to get to meet the other campers.  The owner showed us around the property and it is beautiful with ponds and creeks.  The facilities are very nice.  We have already made reservations to go back on October."

"We came, we, saw, we fell in love.  Third time's a charm - after looking at two other campgrounds in the NC mountains, we knew immediately that this was the place.  Once we toured the campground and talked to Gary & Carol, the hosts, we knew.  Went home and packed up our motorhome, planned to stay a month - have had such a great time, we extended our stay to two months, now contemplating a third month.  We have enjoyed the amiable hosts, the friendly camaraderie of the campers, who had already discovered this gem, and the beautifully landscaped,  quiet campground.  The creek & waterfalls, potluck dinners, happy hours, host cookouts, grill outs, card games and golf outings are just extra bonuses. (The cooler summer days are an added attraction)  If you can't tell, we LOVE this place!  Of all the campgrounds we have ever stayed, this is by far our favorite!"

"This is such a beautiful campground.  Small, quaint and quiet.  The camp hosts (Rosemary & Larry) are the best.  This is a diamond in the rough.  This is our 3rd year here.  It is so beautiful and serene.  A small stream runs by our coach.  We love this park and will be back in October and years to come."
